About Cardiac Surgery

We provide specialized health care to patients with heart and blood vessels diseases in the whole range of cardiosurgical procedures. Our objective is to improve the life quality of patients and their satisfaction with the course of the treatment.

The scope of the provided services is complex, using our own cardiological service, including the preoperative examination of a patient, the postoperative dispensarization with the follow-up rehabilitation and spa treatment.

We have been progressively introducing new procedures in the surgery treatment of cardiovascular diseases.

We specialize in the preservation operations of valves.
In compliance with the world trends, we preferably use biological valve prostheses to replace valves.
We are one of the first workplaces routinely using the minimized extracorporeal circulation.
We belong among the workplaces dealing with the surgical treatment for atrial fibrillation (MAZE operations).
To revascularize myocardium, we use arterial grafts and we prefer complete arterial revascularization.
We take grafts for revascularization endoscopically (a. radialis, v. saphena magna).

Physicians and trainee physicians from other Czech and foreign cardiac surgery centres are familiarized with these types of operations in our hospital.

Our centre has state-of-the-art equipment and enjoys the support of the extensive background of the University Hospital.
We are an accredited workplace in the field of cardiac surgery and intensive medicine, we have been awarded the International Quality Certificate according to CSN EN ISO 9001:2000.

For the successful future and development of our Cardio Centre, we consider it important to monitor the latest knowledge in medicine and its introduction in the practice. The University Hospital organizes the pre-graduate and post-graduate education of Czech and foreign students. Patients from the region of West Bohemia and abroad use our services. Russian and English speaking personnel are available for foreign patients.
