Valve Diseases

Heart defects include the impairment of heart valves leading to their narrowing (stenosis) or insufficiency and they may be congenital or acquired. They may develop gradually – chronic, or occur suddenly – acute.

The most frequent operation of valves is surgery on the mitral and the aortic valves, followed by an operation of the tricuspid valve. The pulmonary valve is only rarely operated on at adult age.

The operation, generally, may end in a prosthetic but more frequently in a repair – the valve plasty.

To replace valves, we use artificial prosthetics of a biological origin – biovalves produced from bovine or swine material.
The other type of valves is mechanical valves produced from metal materials.

ou need to consult the properties and advantages of valves with your physician.
